My home was in England and I have been working in the middle east for many years. I've always ridden bikes, mainly off road and have had a serious urge to restore an old motorbike for many years. I always thought of this as something you do later on in life. Rubbish!! why wait, I decided, that no matter where I was I would settle this urge. So I purchased a Norton ES2 basket case condition. I completely dis-assembled what was left of it, packed it in boxes for storage in the shed and prepared suitcases of parts to take on the plane to the Middle East for repair, paint or rebuild. Yes!! you heard right, suitcases.. What a great plan I thought and gradually things progressed nicely.
A few years later, i moved to France and took parts to France, while also still having parts in England and still working on some in the Middle East.
I had also purchased a further five bikes, again parts were with me in the Middle East, in France and of course some still in England.. As you can imagine, my notes and bike parts where all over the place, I forgot what was ordered and what was sent, where it was being sent, machining, chroming, and all other aspects were becoming very troublesome to organise. Oh my gosh where are those parts! Things started to get a bit out of hand and hence this is the reason I started to develop a system to keep track of all these locations, comings and goings. The system has been developed during my projects restorations and has helped me organize my restorations effectively and eventually putting me back on top of the chaos i created and now I have started to produce some great results.
Knowing each stage on my restorations was a dream come true.. This is now another useful tool in my tool box - I wouldn't be without it!
Friends & colleagues have asked for copies of this program and I have reproduced their manuals for them. It has became that I spent more time on this program than i did my projects, but i still know what needs ordering, what has to be done and where every part is stored. ..
